very simple mxl 990 vs octava mk219 mic question

which sounds better? I have the mxl990 and love it, but GC has the octava mk219 for $49 and I think the mk319 for $69.

Will these "Octava" mics make Ampguy's sound better??

I usually use dynamic SM57's or e609s, but have been experimenting with LDC's as I prepare to record vocals and acoustic guitars soon.

I dig the mk219, it's a good cheap mic. I don't know what else to say, but I used it as the only drum overhead for some of the recordings I did of my band recently.

That's a mk219 on the OH, sm57 on the snare, and d112 on the kick. Oh, and I think I used the mk219 to track the tambourine as well. For some reason I like this mic as the snare side OH or the only OH.

the MK319 is a pretty dark mic, kind of wooly. It's worked well for us, but for guitar I almost always go for a 57. It sounds pretty good on acoustic.

I've found that the 219 is really nice to mellow any ultra-bright sounds. I've used it on acoustic, electric guit room mic and drum overheads. Sometimes I'll even use it for backing vox to get a different texture on some songs. For acoustic a 57 at the 12th fret and a 219 off the the tail gets a nice mixture of gritty and body. Very solid for $49.
