Tascam M-2515 preamp
Tascam M-2515 preamp
Does anyone have information on the quality of the factory preamps on this board?
Thank you, Mario, but our princess is in another castle.

Re: Tascam M-2515 preamp
I have an m-1516, same series but smaller (I think).
I'm sure its op-amp based, and it's no Neve, but it's not bad. Decent detail,
fairly beefy low-mid sound compared to a Mackie. The board overall is a bit noisy, but still a good choice for a bargain mixer, i think.

Don't know that model I've got an even earlier M series board. The pre's are definately useable, even the eq is useable as long as you're not cranking it. I find my board quiet enough too.
There is maybe kinda a Tascam sound you get if your doing rock stuff and start building up lots of tracks, sort of a lo-fi mid range thing(bad description) but yeah I guess they are probably more 'coloured' than modern prosumer boards but in my opinion the modern prosumer boards have a harsh crispness to then and I think the tascams are mellower and standup well.
Some people actually really LOVE these old tascam boards but as has been said they're definately not a 'sleeper neve' so it depends what you're comparing with.
