Help me make my Les Paul unique sounding?

i've got an LP special with those. stacked humbucker i think, cool sound.

sort of what you'd imagine if you crossed a humbucker with a single coil...

I'm definitely a fan of both P-90's AND Mini-Humbuckers. For my taste the standard humbucker is just too whooly sounding. You also might try some different wiring schemes...I know Jimmy Page had a crazy push/pull setup that allowed for a crazy amount of tonal variation.

Something else you might think of is putting a Bigsby Tremolo on there. They tend to change the character of the instrument...think Neil Young.

Are there any P90's that aren't trying to be a "modern" or "hot" P90?
That's mostly what I've found so far. Anybody actually make them like the originals?

And please, any follow up wiring suggestions would be welcome.

Also has anybody tried any of the GFS pickups? they're all over ebay for super cheap.

probably not a feedback nightmare at all..but you could always have it wax potted to cut down squeal if that becomes an issue..

maybe try harmonic designs p-90's

I have their telecaster bridge p90 [looks exactly like a tele bridge pickup
and sounds great....
I think they also have HB size p-90's so you don't have to route the body.

It's not a SUPA HOTTT pickup at all..it has lots of tone

No one's mentioned mini-humbuckers, ala Firebird. I like Duncan Antiquity mini-humbuckers.

Yeah, that's what Neil Young does to all his Les Pauls, I believe i.e. Puts firebird pickups in them. Of course there's so much more to his sound what with the Fender Deluxe Amp with mismatched tubes and Analogue delay etc.

Always seemed like a cool option to me though.

problem with firebird p/u's & mini hums is finding the right kind of surround
so you can put it in the lp spot
