Our first real EP is here...finally!

Post by AMradio » Sat Dec 11, 2004 8:48 pm

It took us 1.5 years to record 6 songs.....and we're done!!!

The six song ep is called "Simple Machines for Complex Problems"
It took us like a year and a half to record and I'm glad to be done with it.
Now we can start on another one! (Recording 3 hours a week isn't the most productive method of recording...but...our wives appreciate it.)
If you're at all interested you can listen to some tracks here.

The song listing is:

1. Iowa Mountain Tour
2. Hotel Mishaps are sad
3. Viva La Guadalajara Bob
4. There is a Fountain
5. The Mighty Cottonwood Creek
6. Philosophy

And where could one get a CD copy if so inclined?

I don't normally listen to the mp3's on this board - this is the first one that I have listened to, and your stuff is really, really good!

I'm really glad ya'll like the stuff. I'm working on the online ordering thing right now, but there's some ordering info @ http://www.thesouthernsea.com/

(anyone have suggestions on how to sell these with no label, distro, etc? Your thoughts on PayPal, CDbaby, Audio lunchbox, etc?) Suggestions?

thanks.

I'm really liking this stuff, online ordering would be cool, as my laziness seems to make snail mailing next to impossible. If I lived close I'd definitely be up to seeing a show, but alas, I'm nowhere near....

Making such a great record with so little to work with is really inspiring. Did you lean on the messageboard for things other than the drum loop trick?

I hit message boards a few times, but mostly...reading tapeop really inspires us to try different things. And several songs, went through 3 or 4 completely different revisions before we liked them enough.

I've been listening to these 4 songs pretty much constantly since yesterday morning. Great, great stuff. Let us know as soon as you get online worders going, I'll be first in line.

Excellent stuff! The first song is absolutely lovely. The vocals and guitar remind me of death cab for cutie. Before I started listening, I thought it was gonna be some alt.country thing based on the artwork and bandname, but then I heard that beautiful electric guitar come in. Sounds awesome for the gear used. Keep it up!

Good stuff. Really nice vocals that remind me of Simon & Garfunkle in a strange kinda way. I like the stuff.
