Favorite Video Game SONGS!!! (pre N64)

The 80's thread got me thinkin' of this. I was playin' Street Fighter 2 yesterday with my wifes little sister, and the intro music is the friggin JAM! It's an 80's hair...Triumphant...whatever It's awesome. Actually all the songs on that game are killer. What are your favorite video game songs. Nothing after Super NES.

Quake 1 soundtrack

Uhm theres this one Strider-like game for I think Genesis that has a pretty nice soundtrack made by TVT Records apparently... they are or were Sevendust's label, by the way.

Some RPG's come to mind from the SNES/GEN but I can't recall which ones had music that stuck out.

I remember how excited I was with the remix of that music they put in SMB 3.

But I got to say, the very best is SMB 2, with that banjo music. , with Game Boy Tetris right on top next to it. Double Dragon was great too.

I used to live with a classical musician who always said "Never listen to Japanese composers, their always terrible." I would say "What about video game music? Its the best music ever because its designed to be listened to for hours on end with out getting annoying. All brilliant.

I wonder why video game music sucks now??? I've been playing Zelda for N64 and the music just sounds like a bad rip off of Back To The Future. Wha' Hoppond?

I'm going to go with some of the really deep levels in Metroid for NES and a lot of the music for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Genesis.

the opening theme for metroid is super bad ass...i would listen to that over and over...rygar was good too...zelda you could never go wrong with...castlevania series...spy hunter...

Have you guys ever seen the video on the internet of the Japanese guy that plays the original Super Mario Bros. theme on the guitar, but is able to also reproduce jumping, coin, shrinking/growing, and pipe transporting sounds?
