I fly out tomorrow to pick up my Otari MTR90 mkII and Soundcraft 1624. I have already bought one reel of GP4 and one reel of 499. I'm stoked to get it up and running.

Once in a blue moon. I'm mainly Protools these days, but occasionally I'll do a project that uses 2" 24-track (not at my place, though) or 1/2" 8-track.

1/2" 8 track here, plus two 1/4" 2 tracks and one new/old 1/4" mono. we don't even have a way to do digital here at all and have to borrow a masterlink or something whenever a real project comes through.

I use a 1/2" 8 track as of a couple of months ago. I've got 4 reels of one pass 456 tape lying around to get me through the cold spell.

Maxell ADAT tapes, but I guess those don't count. Ask me about IDE drives!

I tracked the current project on GP9 2". Overdubs have been done in Pro Tools and I was planning on transferring the mixes to 1/2" analog, but that seems to be put on hold. The sad part here is that I may go a different mastering route with this knowing that the fabulous 1/2" machine at the Mastering Lab won't be part of the sound on this...

I still do a decent amount of analog at my place. Clients still request it a lot.

Have them bounce through it in real time as part of the signal chain! I've done that with Jeff at Peerless on some stuff and it works quite well...

1/2" quantegy 456 on a tascam 80-8-----how do I get to vote in the 'poll'?
Is there a button I'm missing?

1/4" 8 track, 4 track cassette, 8 track cassette and bog-standard stereo cassette (tracking live to that). Also 1/2" 8 track (pete's T-30 -?-). Mostly 4 track and stereo cassette though. For the fun, convenience, perversity and hell of it. Computers still scare me, and I don't give a shit what anyone says, they DO add several extra layers of difficulty and complexity. The mechanical realm is more fuck. Reasonable, maybe. More "there." Ah bollocks I dunno. I suppose I just missed the boat. The respective gradients of the learning curves are probably pretty much the same for PC based stuff and for tape based crap. Whatever.

1/4" 8 track (on a Tascam 388) and cassette (a Yamaha home hi-fi seperate).

I'm making contingency plans to move up to 1/2" (8 or 16 track) should ATR or a revived Quantegy fail to come out with anything like 457.
