what do you listen on?
What does everyone listen to music on at home? Are you a crazy audiophile or have a regular home stereo or use the computer?

Re: what do you listen on?
Depends on the format. CDs and audio files I'll listen to on the computra. Vinyl, obviously on a record player (mid 60s vintage - I love the crackle of vinyl). Cassettes are played through a cheap portable boombox from Fred Meyer - I've found that the boombox really brings out the subtle, yet genious dynamic nuances of Mr. Mister.

* a half-way decent but very consumer grade Kenwood satellite/sub system from the 80's
* a cheap Sanyo boombox with 5-band eq, detachable speakers, a broken cassette deck, and the all-important auxilliary RCA-in.
* a modern Memorex portable CD player that also plays MP3s
* a pair of Sony headphones connected to any one of these devices

Re: what do you listen on?
Depends on where I am:
- Downstairs: Pioneer home theater receiver (bought for cheap at Costco) through Audiosource speakers (also bought for cheap at Costco, but great sound for the price) wired throughout the house.
- Office/Studio: Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2 Active Monitors
- Subaru: Stock stereo system that came with the limited outbacks
- Minivan: Sony MP3/CD player through mopar factory speakers.
- Garage: Old Sony Boombox
Nothing really stellar, but they all work just dandy for me. Most of the music I listen to would be lost on high end audiophile gear anyhow. My dad went out and bought a fancy audiophile stereo system and speakers a few years back and I honestly can't tell *that* much of a difference.
