Oh SNAP! (Condi Hearings)

In a sharp exchange, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer suggested Rice's loyalty to President Bush had "overwhelmed your respect for the truth." Rice replied, "I have never, ever, lost respect for the truth in the service of anything."

"I really hope that you will refrain from impugning my integrity."

Boxer pointed out what she said were inconsistencies in Rice's statements about the imminent threat of nuclear weapons in Iraq.

"This is a pattern here of what I see from you," Boxer said. "It's very troubling. ... It's hard for me to let go of this war because people are still dying." She said Rice has not acknowledged those deaths, has not laid out an exit strategy for Iraq and has been unwilling to admit mistakes -- including going to war over weapons of mass destruction found later not to exist.

Rice insisted the war in Iraq was not launched solely over WMD. Saddam Hussein, she said, welcomed terrorists, attacked his own neighbors and paid suicide bombers in the conflict between Israel and Palestinians.

But Boxer said the bill passed by Congress authorizing the war in Iraq was, "WMD, period."

"Let's not rewrite history, its too soon for that," she said.

"So I got that going for me. Which is nice."

Hey, is this quote from Bill Murray in Caddyshack?

Dude - those hearings were a slap on the wrist. "Ms. Rice, I totally agree with you... what do you think?" Even Boxer pulled punches. She skated through this process.
I get satisfaction of three kinds. One is creating something, one is being paid for it and one is the feeling that I haven?t just been sitting on my ass all afternoon.

WMD my ass. this war is about OIL and money. why didn't the Boxer say "your loyalty to big oil has made you lose sight of the truth."

Condi Rice is a former board member of Chevron. Iraq has the world's second largest remaining estimated reserve of oil in the ground. in 1997 or so, there was a find in the caspian sea that many geologists estimated to contain something like 200 billion barrels--in 2002, it was tapped and discovered to containt only 10 billion barrels. shortly thereafter, the US attacks Iraq to liberate the closer to 115 billion barrels they still have underground. so not only does taking control of iraq's poorly run oil fields allow us to ramp up production to meet growing demand but it brings billions of dollars into the coffers of companies like haliburton and chevron.

albeit a biased source... http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/oil.html
for a better source read "Crude" by Sonia Shah.

the world is running out of cheap oil and the shortsighted money men (and women) in control of this country will stop at nothing to ensure that they continue to make money from. it's no matter--all of the oil in the world cannot be pumped out fast enough to meet growing demand, so as Cheney has told us, we will now see neverending resource wars and millions will die leading up to an inevitable economic collapse that we are not preparing for because we're too busy making war. FUN FOR EVERYONE!

She skated through this process.
She skated through the process because she's smarter than they are, and she's a woman of integrity. I hope she is our 1st female, black president someday.

smarter maybe... but, integrity?!?! you've gotta be fucking kidding?!?!

mushroom clouds?!?

she also happens to have been the NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR during the most colossal breach of national security ever! She's partially responsible for ignoring the threat posed by Bin Laden.

She can't be president, because though smart, she's far from smooth.
