Uher report monitor -- DIN jacks

Post by schnozzle » Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:18 pm

Is the mic input a 3-pin din or a 5-pin? Does anyone know? How about the line input? I tried using google but had no luck.

Uherrrrrrrr...

It could be that there's a Report Monitor mono and a RM stereo, and that the former is 3 and the latter 5 DIN.

Right, I see. Well, the machine in question would be a mono one. Um...well, if nobody knows for sure, I'll just...I dunno...cry or something.

I could swear most of the ones I've seen in the U.S. have 1/4" jacks for the mic inputs and 5 pin DIN for in's and out's for the preamp section (in addition to the standard RCA in's and out's).

Really? Huh. Well, the one I'm going to get ahold of is a 4000 Report-S. I did find a picture of the mic input on a Report-L, I dunno if it's different:

That's a DIN-5, right? What would it need all those pins for on a mono recorder?

Anyway...were I to solder up a xlr-to-DIN cable, what would I do with the extra pins? Ignore them?

One of my tape echo's has that type of DIN plug on the output, and it goes to a simple 1/4" jack. The other pins were "ignored" as you said.

Okay, cool.

I've still not been able to find out about the line inputs and headphone jacks--apparently they're banana plugs? Which I've not dealt with before.

That;'s them - weird that the Uher would use them for cans. My kef speakers have them.

This is odd...here's something for the Uher 1200:
2 mic inputs (DIN3 lockable)
Line input (4mm banana) 600 Ohms
Outputs: line level (DIN5), speaker (DIN2)
Weird. Maybe it's different from model to model? I suppose I'll have to wait until the thing shows up to know for sure.
