I've always thought having "Productions" in a studio name is super-cheesy. It makes me think of MIDI "studios" that have one mic (a 414!) and specialize in karaoke, bad new age, or cheezy hiphop/r&b.

My bandmate named his basement setup Gross Incompetence. Maybe he'll change the name if he ever decides to start charging for his services. :)

But I was very much bothered with my work!

do you think you could just name your studio "Toto"?

that would be pretty cool.

I would like to own that place, I would give Garges a job there.

Studio A, for Africa.

I wouldn't take it unless you got around to giving me that t-shirt, then I would take it.

I like it. Maybe that's where Sound Factory Studio A got its name from.

Ouch. My good friend had a studio on SE Foster called the Track Shack and a bunch of great records were made there.

How about:

Analog Sucks Studio (or ASS for short)
OK Tire and Recording
Deaf Jeff and Blind Billy Bob Recording Emporium
J Dawg's Bail Bonds and Recording Studio
Accordians Only!
Free Beer Recording
my band: Mission 5

Hey DWLB,
what's that new-ish studio on south Michigan? Soundscape studios? That is pretty bland.

Yeah, Sounscape Stidios. Sounds like New Age meets Deep House.

SOUNDSCAPES...

Paragon, Planet, and Playroom are goofy P names...

Worse still - Flabbey Road. Or Shabbey Road. Or Scabbey Road. Or whatabout The DAT Cave. That would suck quite nicely. Or maybe Suite Child O' Mine. Wow.

Just today I saw an ad in the alternative weekly for Unicorn Studios.

Not a bad name on its own, but...when I think of my music, I don't think "unicorns."

Minotaurs dueling with battle-axes for the prize of a scantily clad slave princess, yes. But not unicorns.

And all this time, I just thought it was the Toto shirt. Say, you didn't steal that Polaroid of Jeff Porcaro that was hanging outside of Sound Factory, did you? I've wanted that picture for years! (That one, not the other really entertaining one taken out by the dumpster.)

Man, now you've really got me curious.
