MoreMe Headphones? under $10 bucks

Post by audioaudioaudio » Thu Feb 03, 2005 2:42 pm

Anybody ever heard of the Califone 3068av cans. Generally found for about $10.

This site has them for even less: $6.20: http://store.cousinsvideo.com/cal-3068av.html

Check out the hi-res photo at http://www.califone.com/images/3068av.jpg

Here's the moreme site: http://www.itrstudio.com/moreme.html Check out the delux model.

Hmmmm................... I'm not sure, and you can't trust stated specs.... They look awfully similar...... I just ordered a few pairs to find out.

I've bought the MoreMe's Deluxe Edition.

1. I have a soft head and need the additional padding.
2. I really needed the HeadPhones to say Left & Right.
3. I didn't have to go find an addaptor for the Phone Jack.

Seriously, I bought the Deluxe from Harvey directly and I have to say that for $35 they are not a bad pair of Headphones. I wouldn't use them for detail work (Just got a pair of DT 770s), but for tracking and overall listening they are not bad. I've worn them for about 1 hours straight (not to test them just using them) and while my ears were a little miffed with me, they were ready to go on strike or anything. What does that mean? Well, when I wear my consumer Sony Headphones for 1/2 my ears feel like they are about to fall off. With the MoreMe they were sore after an hour but not in pain (if that means anything).

So that you know Harvey Gerst (the guy that sells the MoreMe's), get's them made under that name for him (he uses them for trackin in his own studio - http://www.frontendaudio.com/MoreMe%20Headphones.htm) made by some company. So it would not surprise me if they were the same HeadPhones.

naw, they're different. you see the moremes have a little sticker that says "moreme" on them.

(seriously, I'm pretty sure they're different. The moremes don't have the volume thing. and most of those classroom headphones get no lowend, which the moremes are nice at. Still, for $6.20, it's hard to pass up. the bass player won't know the difference.)

Oh! I have no doubt they are made by the same people. They probably make several different 'levels' of Headphones. Like the MoreMes there is two flavors the Regulars and the Deluxe. I can find out by Harvey who makes them and tell you.

I heard you can get a case of 100 for $2.00 a pair. I smell a group buy.

If they have the volume controls built in, avoid them like the plague - they won't last a week in most studios. A lot ocompanies in China seem to making almost exactly the same phones, but there are some differences.

The main problems I had was finding dealers who actually stocked them, and getting warranty replacements, coupled with insane shipping costs. That's when I decided to go into the headphone distributing business.

The deluxe MoreMe's are torn down and modified here, so there is no direct Chinese equivalent.

I have a pair of those that were just laying around the house and I hate them. Not really for audio reasons more because they fit on my head weird. I think someone might have step on them though......

Some of the new posts at HR were getting to me, so I just decided to lurk there rather than post as usual. I almost responded to DJL's crack about buying SP mics is supporting China's atomic weapons program, but I decided against it. I check here on a regular basis, but don't post too much.

y'know, every messageboard has its enemies - those that we love to hate. But DJL is a total fuckface. Not in a likeable way. I bet he's abusive to puppies in his spare time. I mean, did Alan Hyatt sleep with his girlfriend or something??? What the hell is up with him and SP mics?

The problem I have is that DJL can also be quite helpful when he's not "off his meds". Most of his advice is gleaned from other posts and threads, but it's helpful. Unfortunately, most of his own threads that he starts are usually quite hateful. and full of inuendos and assumptions presented as "facts". Those are the posts that raise my hackles.
