Yeah i followed this one closely. i don't think albini's argument about tape being a superior storage medium really holds up. i think the more subjective argument of audio quality is more defensible when it comes to the tape/daw wars...

I read the thread and I still have no idea what the actual point of the "experiment". I think Albini's take is best, in that everyone is playing poker all night afterwards.

Other than that, it's a bunch of guys waving their e-penises about their use of tape.

I just wish I could go to play poker.

geesh, its amusing that anyone would even bother to give creedence to a debate between a recording engineer and the other guy. Thats kinda like reading a debate between mickey mouse and walt disney...

I think that anything they have to say on the subject is just as valid as anyone else on a public, internet message board. No more, no less.

hey, that's my new word! I'm glad others are using it.

A drunk Fletcher once pushed me.

Anyway, it's funny to me how many guys get lost in the science of this recording stuff. I'll admit, I do it too. But recording is an art, too, and I really love those moments on TOMB - moments that are very, very rare on other boards - when the love of the art of recording really come through.

I'm not reading 40000 posts. When is the test in Chacigo and can I get in? I'd even bring my RADAR if needed.

You really ought to hear the Black #9 cd. Then look at the engineering credits.

heh, thats funny, I used to marginally read what fletcher posted, it wasnt until I heard some things that he recorded that I totally put him in the irrelevant file and just totally stopped bothering with him.
