That one came out of nowhere for me, and I listen to it all the time.

I've only bought one new album this year. White Stripes-Get Behind me Satan. I gave it rave reviews upon first listen, but after 3 or 4 more listens it really began to bore me. There are some good songs, but the album as a whole is not great. Were there any great albums of 2005? Aside from that, I also downloaded some Kayne West because I like a couple of his songs. Other than that, it seemed like 2005 was a fairly uneventful year for great albums.

oh yeah, the Evens. Definitely my favorite CD that came out this year. Amy Farina's drumming is so cool (I guess she's Tape Op reviewer Geoff Farina's sister?).
Shania Twain's greatest hits CD came out this year.
Neither Weezer nor Beck came through with anything awesome, in my opinion.
Smog's A River Ain't Too Much to Love is good, not his best but has some really great songs and singing on it.
I also got super into Elliot Smith's Figure 8.

I also forgot to mention Lou Barlow's latest record "Emoh." Some tracks might not satisfy those who are acutely aware of "poor" recording nuances but the songs are great and most are well recorded. He's great live too.Brian Brock wrote:oh yeah, the Evens. Definitely my favorite CD that came out this year. Amy Farina's drumming is so cool (I guess she's Tape Op reviewer Geoff Farina's sister?).
