Check the cover of Warren Smith's 'Red Cadillac and a Black Mustache www.myspace.com/thetouched
We recorded it for the soundtrack to a friend's campy sci-fi B-movie.
It was recorded on my 388, and mixed down to a Fostex M20 with a danecho pedal on the vocals and drums.

I'm almost 100% sure that THIS GUY recorded THIS ALBUM on a 388. Almost. Realmedia samples at second link.

This was recorded on a 388 then moved over to ProTools for mixing (and a few overdubs).
By the way, the Tascam 388 is the finest machine ever invented. It make dialysis machines look lame by comparison.

check out the finn brothers demos on the reissue of Crowded House's Woodface. Neil was using a 388 in his studio at that time.
I love the East River Pipe stuff. I wish I could make sounds like those on my 388.
I recently made these noises.

Nothing great, but I DO like the sounds. Please don't hate me for using a drum machine.
dig it.

this is an old school 388 recording from around 1992.

I love that song! Is that your band? Who is it? Sounds freaking great. Awesome writing. Cool singing. Excellent drums/bass combo. Beatley in a good, energetic way, instead of sappy and derivitive, like most Beatles-influenced stuff. Is that a mellotron I hear?!? I want that CD if it exists somewhere...
Thanks man!
I loved recording on that 388.
We had no gear and it was great fun.
"Jack is the beast" was included on The Spent Poets 2nd record "Steve" which Geffen shelved. We were dropped soon after Mio Vukivich (same A&R guy who dropped Wilco from Warners) told us to stop making "Circus music".
Classic.
There were two 388 homemade demo's that were supposed to be released on that record.
I'll send you the whole thing, but it's really not all that great.
The two 388 recordings are cooler than the rest, which were done on the most amazing Neve at Coast recorders.
Go figure.

Uuugh. That hurts. I'm glad Wilco's turn of fortune made him out for the short-sighted twit that he is. Small consolation for you guys, though...Slider wrote:We were dropped soon after Mio Vukivich (same A&R guy who dropped Wilco from Warners) told us to stop making "Circus music". Classic.
I definitely would like to get a copy, if possible. I think it sounds great! I'm working on my bands CD now, in a similar stylistic vein...
Scott Crowder (Dry County) www.myspace.com/scottcrowder his record was recorded to a 388 as was some of the tracks on his other band Dark Little Rooms
