Nothing like starting out a new year with a good reality check!

pity about the song... *shudders* *vomits*

sounds good for all 57s, but fucking hell... those lyrics? *dry heave*

still a good reality check, i agree.

"What I lack in talent I make up for with ineptness." Excellent.
"Jeweller, you've failed. Jeweller."

"Lots of people are nostalgic for analog. I suspect they're people who never had to work with it." ? Brian Eno

Can't honestly say that I like the song or the arrangement, but it does sound pretty good, especially considering how quickly and cheaply it was recorded. Nice voice, too.

this is a sweet thread..

I mean it doesnt sound great to me..and It sounds compressed, theres no mention of that in the notes..theres reverb on everything which makes it sound better than it is I'm sure..but the sound quality is kind of meh..I mean you can tell it was someone who knows how to record..and its a pretty good quality track for the gear and time they claimed to use..

I'd like to hear this done with a rock band and no reverb..

huh, is there some phase going on btwn the overhead and the snare? The snare seems to thin out now and then.

Overall, not bad for a quick recording. Really some creative equing would have improved everything, too. That kick sounds like crap. What's funny is that I threw a 57 on a kick the other night for shits & giggles and it sounded a lot better than that. I wonder what he's doing wrong.

The song is amazingly bad. Wow.
I find adherence to fantasy troubling and unreasonable.

That's vry cool, Joey. Maybe we'll have to wind up with a collection of 57 songs.

Wasn't that kind of the point? No "board" to speak of...straight to the Roland using it's onboard pres. I think it sounds pretty damn good and illustrates the point perfectly.
