I'd love to hear an interview with him, and like the big-ass thuddy bass drum sound as well. They're not my favorite band, but I hardly think they suck either, as some posters have mentioned. I like the sonic approach and think that a lot of other TapeOp readers would be into an interview.

I saw an interview with him on 60min. after the Loretta album.
he seems like a nonstop talker. Like nervous, crazy look in the eye, hyper kind of talker. he seemed intelligent. (fine line between genius and madness) i think that k-drum sound is all about how the resonant head is mic'd.

Dear ctmsound,

If depends only on you we would live in a world full of anoying people who takes music "serious" (on a plastic academic way) , over-produced albums which sounds like shit and musicians who always follow the rules.

It doesn't seem like anyone here has seen it but, there was a Guitar World cover story that was a Jack White/Jimmy Page joint interview. It wasn't heavy on nuts-and-bolts. However, it did cover some of the more "this is my take on recording" elements. Very interesting.

I have yet to see which catagory he falls into. I know which one Syd fell into.
I didn't invent the phrase (genius/madness).
I like their music.
I dont agree with Rolling stone that he is one of the top 50 guitarist of all time.
You too must think something of Jack White since you are reading a thread about him

Hey I think it is a great idea. I help setup the whole recording studio in his house. I can get a hold of the engineer Matthew Kettle. If you guys bug larry , I can help get it rolling.

Another great thing about the White Stripes is that Matthew Kettle, who has done FOH for their tours since 2001, actually tracked the last album they did (Get Behind Me Satan). I don't know of many FOH engineers who have that kind of duality.

I can almost imagine him getting a late-night call from Jack and lugging the Midas & the Radar over to his living room to record the next album...

yeah i would love to know more about the recordings, especially the new one. im sure TapeOP could probably get in touch with Liam Watson of Toe Rag Studios too, they recorded Elephant there.

Van Lear Rose is one of my favorite albums of the last couple years -- I'd love to hear more about how it was recorded. It's such a travesty that it was snubbed at the CMA awards the year it came out. Of course, Nashville wouldn't know what to do with real Country music if it bit it in the ass...

ive been playin drums for over 10 years. yes, she isnt a "chops" drummer. she plays songs. thats all they do. play songs. they dont practice arpeggios all day, and the "chick" drummer doesnt practice ratimacues or any other dork drummer stuff all day. doesnt need too. they make songs.

ya know a good example? nick mason of pink floyd. is he a "awesome" drummer? no in the drummer sense of the word. he plays for the song. if you dont understand that, then there is no helping you...

and btw. nick mason is a awesome drummer in my opinion
