Acclaimed recs that you're "just not that into"

Post by ;ivlunsdystf » Fri Feb 10, 2006 8:27 pm

Let's have 'em. My personal picks: Pet Sounds, Village Green Preservation Society, the entire Pixies catalog, and (thinking about this one is what got me to make this post) John Coltrane's Giant Steps album.

I see what the fuss is all about objectively on each of these recordings, and I've put in the time at least enough to become familiar with what makes each such a classic, but I just really don't dig any of them for (I guess) my own reasons of personal taste.

Anybody else have trouble getting into some of the great masterworks of recorded music? Vent away.

I tried - really tried - to get into Ornette Coleman. Never stuck.

Radiohead. I like some stuff on OK Computer, but that's it.

Television's 'Marquee Moon'.

I never got into Modest Mouse.

Radiohead: I thought 'The Bends' was a great, straight forward album. Then they had to get all musique concr?te on everybody's ass. Just stop it.

Nebraska. You bastard. You DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmmmmmmmm. . . . . . I'm gonna have to say Thriller. Never really could get into that one.

Also, most Wilco minus YHF and parts of Being There.

Also Repo Man.

Wait, what am I saying? I love Repo Man.
