the best live show you've seen.....
i just bought 2 tickets to go see a 3 day concert this summer in bend oregon...friday,ben harper...saturday,beck...sunday, the flaming lips!
i'm really looking foward to the flaming lips show....and then i started thinking...what was THE best live show i've seen? i'm talking well known bands here...i've easily seen 100+ shows of major name artists....and the one show that sticks out as the best i've seen would have to be alice cooper about 16 years ago. what a show! i would say a close second would be marilyn manson. i'm not talking for sound or musical performances here...i'm talking overall entertainment.
anyone else? i would love to hear some war stories on live shows....

not that i'm a big time metal-head or anything but yeah, in terms of just entertainment value? Dillinger Escape Plan/Soilent Green in NOLA, Feb 15, 2004 - talk about the depths of hell, man, i was up on the front row, thought i was gonna get chopped in half from the barricade, and then that little dude from Dillinger leans right over, he's playing one of them pointy ESPs (extra sucky players, i'm told), and just neat clean as can be takes a chunk out of the bridge of my nose - i've still got the scar to prove it. and you know the freaky thing? i swear to god it was part of the song
Village Idiot.

Flipper with Naked Raygun opening at Tut's in Chicago. It was either 1980 or 1981. Both bands were just perfect. You could hear every single thing. The club was teeming with punks, it was a big huge puppy pile-type slam dance, before slam dances turned into frikin football matches.
not to worry, just keep tracking....

don cab "what burns" era tour was fucking insane. "american don" era was extremely fun to watch.

By far, Modest Mouse is the greatest band I've seen live (close second maybe Tomahawk). Their live shows have tons more energy than their albums. I've even seen Manson live, front row... Modest Mouse blew them away. Even the piggy back ride I gave Jerry Only at the Misfits show doesn't compare to the Modest Mouse gig. lol
Did somebody say Flipper? "She's a sex bomb baby, ya!"
Fugazi was great too. I'd love to see Don Cab or Quinton.
