Wow, I love a lot of stuff under $600.00

Studio Project C1 tops the list though.

I also bought a couple PM1000 channel strips that I use on everything that were a hell of a good deal for about $150.00

Joe Meek VC5 is a fun EQ for around $150 on eBay

Presonus MP20 is a decent mic pre for around $250 used.

I buy everything used, so my money goes a little further. :) Everything I mentioned is less than $600 new regardless.

The K came from a Pawn shop that had no idea that it was anything special. The Bassman, Mesa cab and Strat were all trade in deals at a shop where I used to work.

I have to add:

Maestro Echoplex in almost MINT shape: 275.00 WITH spare NOS tape cartridge!

I have been looking for an echoplex in really good condition for like 5 years... FINALLY.

Crap, almost everythng in my studio is <$600. But the stuff i couldn't live without is:

UAD Card: man, I basically could not do a mix without this, unless someone gave me 20k worth of compressors. Basically the only compression I use.

Roland Chorus Echo RE-301 (paid $400).

7th Circle n72: With the case and powersupply, it was $600, and I had to build it. First good preamp I've owned, and totally changed my recordings for the better. I really need to get a 2nd channel.

Shinybox23c ($225), currently my most-used mic.

The fun stuff:
Rhodes Stage 73 (Free)
Hammond M3 (Free)
Oberheim SEM ($300)
Hohner Pianet ($150): Just took this to a gig the other night, what a great feeling keyboard! A very reasonable replacement for a rhodes.
Korg ER-1 ($125) Fun little drum machine.

Hm - meanwhile I have the Rhythm Jester - perhaps the Master could teach the Jester a thing or two -

I realize as I type this that I cannot remember how I got it, but I know it was WAY less than $600...

Bang for the buck wise, I'd get a tape machine with a remote that could fetch its asking price.

There's so much for under half that amount, like my favorite microphone, the MD421.

Now things you can get for under $600 that have no peers for that price range:

Stapes/Avenson omni pair
Octave Cat mono analog synthesizer
Silverface Fender Twin Reverb (maybe as of yesterday, the price went up)
Japanese Telecaster
"I have always tried to present myself as the type of person who enjoys watching dudes fight other dudes with iron claws."
