true. I wish there was more talk on techniques, or critical/interesting situations and the actions used to confront/fix them.

but i also wouldn't mind reading something about Paul Mahajan and David Andrew Sitek. Those guys have made some cool records.

why i keep all my old issues, cause more than likely someone i want to read about has already been interviewed and i just didn't know them at the time. but there was that long dark period where tapeop decided not to show up.

I'll second anyone who mentioned Howe Gelb and Calexico.

How about Rudy van Gelder?

Some others: Sun City Girls, Danielson Famile, Vic Chesnutt, Yo La Tengo, Steve Reich, Built to Spill, Wilco (and Walter Sear of Sear Sound, where Wilco recorded "A ghost is born").

Updated: I see there was a TapeOp interview with Walter Sear already--Sear has it up on his site.

walter sear was in an issue awhile ago. can't remember which one though. let me check...he had some things to say.

Don Buchla- he's one of grand daddies of synthesis along w/ Moog, and he is very much still in business.

Augustus Owsley Stanley, a.k.a Bear- did numerous recordings in the heyday of 60s acid rock and after, which are extrodinary in their quality (compare "old and in the way" to any other bluegrass recording, and then remember it was done in 1975)- designed and built the "wall of sound"- among many other accomplishments.

Whomever said Scientist: that's a good one! I picked up a couple of his early albums in St. Louis this summer and they're amazing. Besides his unique sound, he's also unusual for releasing dub albums back in the late 70's/early 80's, when most dub releases were on the backs of singles.

Seconded on both of these. Doubt Owsley would do it, but if he did it would surely be an entertaining interview.
