Mackie Satellite Recipients!

Post by TapeOpHillary » Thu Oct 05, 2006 9:27 am

Mackie has been very generous and offered us several Onyx Satellite portable recording systems to giveaway to TOMB members!
Larry, John and the moderators & I discussed who we felt would be good recipients and this is the list we came up with...

Moderators:
- Joel Hamilton (joel hamilton)
- Chris Garges (cgarges)
- Tony San Filippo (drumsound)
- Brian Roth (brianroth)

Members:
- (TOMB Developer) Ryan Abernathy (tret-lo)
- Joel Patterson (JoelPatterson)
- J Robert Lennon (inverseroom)
- Keith Lee (kayagum)
- Chris Manes (Electricide)
- Joe Griffin (dwlb)
- Scott Craggs (MoreSpaceEcho)
- John Davis (toaster3000)
- Matt Winegar (Slider)
- Jeff Robinson (@?,*???&?)

and there were two other people, but they haven't responded to my email...so if you are one of them, email me and we'll get it sorted out:
- tatertot
- Scott J. Callan (mjau)

Congrats! And thanks for being a part of the Tape Op community!
And a big thanks to Shaunna from Mackie for setting this all up! Yay!!!

I responded the day the post came out (last week) and I was wondering why I never heard anything more. I suppose my message is stuck in a spam filter somewhere. D'oh!

Bummer for me. Lucky for everybody else though.

EDIT: Thanks Hillary for going to bat for me! (heard from her just now)

A sincere thank you TapeOp and Mackie. I look forward to using the other half of my brain as I grow into a PC rig to enable use of this. Mr Mac here may make some other serious software considerations as I do so. Does anyone know if this thing supported by Logic yet or should I be considering Sonar or Cubase for this?

Btw, in checking out the Mackie site for info on this unit, I have a question, is this thing just a rack for a pair of audio binoculars? I hope I can hear very clearly through them!

P.S. On a completely unrelated note, Go Tigers!!!!!!!

Just got home to find mine sitting on the front porch. Behind the beam. I have a wedding this week, but I'll get to comparing them next week.

Is there a particualr thread for the impressions/reviews? Or just start your own?

hmm I think it would have been better to do a little research and give it to posters that lack gear... not the people that have all the gear. good job anyway.

Mine just arrived, and once I'm out of tech rehearsals and have wiped Helstab's piss off my parade, I'll set it up and see what's what!

I have a mackie 1604 mixer, a 57, and ...that's it. Guitar, amp, fx pedal, drumset, computer.

Clearly it's the SM57 that puts you up into the TOMB elite. You over-priveleged jerk, you.

From who I see on that list and what I know of them, there's a wide range of gear-collection sizes, experience levels and disciplines represented. Should yield a good cross-section of feedback for Mackie, which lest we forget is the idea behind this event.

I would like to think I'd say that even if I weren't on the list...
