FS wurlitzer electric piano $600

Post by ws9848 » Sat Oct 28, 2006 9:45 pm

one lovely electric piano known as the wurlitzer instructor console (similar to the 200, but more toggles that don't do anything but light up pretty).

she has her own speakers, so if you are a pianist on the go, just plug and play. she also has a 1/4" output, ripe for effects processing.

funky bits: a couple of her keys appear to have been melted or something at some point prior to our ownership. they play fine, but the look isn't as photogenic as some might like. we didn't get her to sit and look pretty. she has been well played, live and on recordings. in other words, she doesn't look perfect up close, but she sounds nice and is easy to move - yay for castors! one reason to choose the wurly over a rhodes, which has a similar sound.

she has been moved to storage (someone else's studio rather than ours), so we will need some notice if you'd like to see her. please PM if you are serious
about purchasing and utilising a vintage electric piano as played by the likes of shannon wright et al. (if you are looking for a rhodes, this might suffice.)

$600 obo

i have a wurlitzer 200a, and i've tried the student model of this wurly and thought it did sound pretty rhodes-ish...definetely quite different then the 200a.

It was prolly that specific specimen...the 200's and 206's are mechanically identical...there are like a zillion slightly different circuit boards though.

I love Wurlis :D

I have two 200a's and a Fender Rhodes with Satellite speakers..I find i reach for the Wurly the most, since it sits just perfectly in the mix. A rhodes can sometimes get a little lost in there...But hell, if you put a gun to my head, i could NOT choose!

Perhaps kind of OT, but those of you who use VST plugs should try these:

http://www.soundfonts.it/?a=cat&b=2

They're called Mr. Ray and Mr. Tramp and are physically-modelled software versions of the Rhodes and Wurli, respectively. And they sound REALLY good. And they're free. It's quite amazing actually, no samples used. I was playing Mr. Tramp today then walking across the room and playing the real thing, and the sound is very convincing. The feel is another ball of wax, but you can't beat the price.

I agree, a Wurli can really glue a song together.

$600 for that thing? You're kidding right?

I have see plenty of 200A models in recent weeks that are in better shape than that thing and they go for around $400.

Do you know what "artificially inflating prices" means? What about 'beat to shit?"

Seriously, I bought my 200A for $45 at en estate sale and it looks and plays amazing.

Consider yourself lucky you got the one you did for $45.

ws: Don't you get it, he wants you to GIVE it to him or sell it for chump change.

How the hell do you know what the playing condition is on this particular Wurlie? Show me some Wurlie 200As in better condition that this for $400 and I'll be buying as many as I can stuff in my shack. Sh1t, I bought a refinished 1963 Fender Jaguar with original gold-plated parts for $300 back 3 years ago. I guess I totally ripped off the next guy who bought it for $2100 a year later.

The market will dictate what he will ultimately sell it for.

Ignore the fucking thread.

I just can't stand seeing people jack prices up on items.

Why in God's name would you expend all that time and energy on this, jc? Who the hell cares what the guy charges? If it's inflated, nobody will buy it. I got mine for $250, so yeah, I think it's high, but if somebody pays it, then, ipso facto, it's not high. Either way, it has nothing to do with you.

And neither does anybody else's high prices, for that matter. Express your loathing by not paying attention.
