what is the musical equivalent of Impressionism?
What is the musical equivalent of ?
Wikipedia says: "Characteristics of Impressionist painting include visible brushstrokes, light colors, open composition... ordinary subject matter, and unusual visual angles." I tend to think of it as a consciously distorted representation of something that has already been captured realistically (it's not only that, of course). Nirvana?

FYI, check out www.naxos.com. It is a classical lable. For $20/year you can listen to anything in their catalog, which is extensive. I do web stuff for a day gig and listen to 40/hrs of music a week at work so this has been a great way to check out some classical stuff as I work. I'm diggin Charles Ives.
Cheers...
