Best of Myspace bands article in TapeOp?

Post by jcooke » Sun Nov 26, 2006 12:13 pm

I would love to see someone go through the myspace bands on this sight and post a few of the "best" ones. That would also be pretty cool for those bands to get some recognition.

just noting that where this link starts with "=2" at the far right, it goes all the way up to "=814" ... that's a lot of douchebags!

Damn, I hate trawling through myspace to listen to some band. Can't imagine basing an article around bands there...

geez Larry, I'm surprised at that. maybe the interface is spotty and murdoch sucks but there's no denying it's the new age model for marketing. I have found more great stuff on myspace than anywhere else lately... stuff I doubt I would have found anywhere else...

yeah... you don't have to "trawl through" myspace to hear a band. just put in myspace.com/bandname and the songs usually start playing automatically. it really couldn't be much easier. sure, there's a lot of nonsense involved with myspace... but, it's easily the most simple way to check out new bands on the internet.

I don't understand why News Corp. lets people put 4,000 pictures on their myspace but still doesn't let bands put their songs up at a proper sample rate or file type.

Sorry, OT I know.

Money. Used to be 12 images, then the studio that put out the movie "300" did a nifty promotional thing wherein everyone on myspace now can have...wait for it: 300 photos! Which basically means they paid for myspace to get a bunch more server space to store all this stuff. Perhaps when Michael Jackson puts out his next record he will strike a similar deal and buy myspace enough server space to handle 25,000 bands' hi-res files.

Plus, um, pics are smaller files in the first place.
