this is some funny stuff about a band getting signed to a major, only to go through hell making their album in a (major label way.)
this was my first band.
this was the bass players diary. if anyone has any cool recording diary links i would love to see them. this stuff fascinates me.
lots of tech stuff about mics compressors and stuff. and horror stories.

Trip... I picked this album up when I was getting into recording because I thought "The Jesus Room" on the back cover looked cool!

For major sessions, and at least the interesting ones, I keep a journal. Some of it might become an article one of these days, not so much of the "Mixerman" variety, but more of the observations that I've made over the years. I'm still young. I've got a few more chapters to do...

Are you also the person who couldn't see the sights in the desert because the window was covered in lobster vomit?

That's where I'm up to at the moment.

no...i'm the guy who puked up the lobster tacos and tequilla. we paid some kid 5 bucks at the border to clean the puke off the windows. i think i'm referred to as "winegar" in the diary. what a lot of pain and misery to make a crappy record no one bought. the diary's really good though. i love the moving of kicks and snare's by 5ms what a waste of time.

"As Winegar added a shaker part in the studio, Puig remarked that he was amazed by Winegar's ability to play along with the rhythm track so perfectly. As if on cue, Winegar strode into the control room bearing a Dixie cup filled with his own urine, which he promptly offered to Gates."

Nice! Thanks for the link, I really love reading about torturous recording processes. Misery loves company.

Here's a short account of Soul Coughing recording El Oso with the Tchad producing.

Hahaha. While reading this I thought to myself, "That winegar is a total dick, I would kick his ass so bad if I were there." The whole thing was like a kindergarten classroom almost. Temper tantrums, feelings hurt, "my way or the highway", "Im tired and wanna go home", and lots of other funny things.

I can only imagine how idiotic I would act in such a situation. Props to you for not killin someone.
