emt 240 gold foil vs akg bx20

Post by blixton » Wed Feb 28, 2007 7:33 pm

Seems to me these two reverbs might have a similar sound. Anyone heard both? What are the differences? Which would you consider better?. Oh, and the akg bx10's are going for over 2k on evilbay now. Thats crazy

i know the AKG BX series are all springs and more than a few ppl like them.

I've used 'em both a couple of times - The AKG spring sounded fantastic - real lush and smooth, and it sat great in a mix. The 240 foil... eh, not as impressed with. It was nice, sure, but it didn't really blow me away or anything.

that is like comparing an aston martin to a dodge charger.

Both are totally cool but for very different reasons.

the bx10 is a tabletop box-type unit. The bx20, of which i have one, is about 4 1/2' tall and sits on the floor. different reverb times.
