Name that hip-hop group on Chevy Chase movie:I Love Trouble

Post by honkyjonk » Thu Mar 15, 2007 8:53 pm

Anybody see this rediculous movie?

It has Demi Moore, Chevy Chase, John Candy, and I think it's Dan Akroyd in costume on the (pump?) organ while this group plays.

Who is it? I don't know rap/hip hop history much, so forgive me if it's obvious.

Yup. It's Digital Undeground. The movie is called Nothing But Trouble. I remember waiting for months for that flick to come out... I didn't have a lot going on in my life back then.

If you watch closely, you can catch Tupac in the background-- he was a dancer/ backup singer/ whatever for DU back then.

Aaaw, Li'l Debbil...

My favorite is Taylor Negron's character--
"...my sister, who was once queen of the Mardi Gras..."

Man, I wonder if Blockbuster has that movie. I should watch it again. And annoy the hell out of my wife.

That WAS Tupac. Wierd. Yeah, I don't think he raps at all, but they do focus on him a bit. I forget exactly what he was doing. Was he playing keyboards too or something?

He was cheering on Dan Aykroyd as he plays the theater organ. I struggled with that image as he went gangsta... who knows-- maybe Biggie had a bit part in Police Acadamy or something.

Tupac was legitimately in Digital Underground at that point. Something I'm sure Suge Knight was hoping people would forget when he was selling him as the hard voice of the streets. Not unlike Dr. Dre's time logged with the World Class Wreckin' Cru.

Until about 30 seconds ago I would have sworn that I was the only person who legitimately enjoyed this movie.

That movie is quite wonderful. I love the Boneripper machine and the whole junkyard atmosphere...fuckin' yuppies deserve to act out every scene in that movie on a yearly basis.

Tupac looked so squeaky clean...trip.
