Why is this thread in this forum?

The microphone question has been answered. Now it's an excuse to air political views and that's not what I come here for. Thanks anyways.

If this was a thread bashing Dean or Hillary would it have stayed in this forum so long??

I saw that clip on TV, it was definitelty gold plated. Probably a custom made RE27.

Just a few words on this. No one ever intends to become addicted. Its an insidious, gripping problem that any person can become afflicted with.
First its back pain, then a surgery, then its 4 months of pain killers. Then you see a pain specialist, then its another 6 months of higher doses of pain killers. The pain doesnt go, and now the only thing that helps is a med that sinks its teeth in you. Oxycontin, morphine etc...very tenuous stuff.

I dont believe that Rush is claiming to be a victim. Its just sad that the people who criticized him for being mean an intolerant are now being mean and intolerant. We're all at once near-sighted & vulnerable, and the sooner we recognize such and work at changing ourselves, the less sad this place will be.

Al Frankin on CNBC " Its obvious that 2 1/2 million dollars doesnt make you as happy as 2 million dollars and a fist of oxycontin."

Apparently combinations of drugs like oxycontin and other stuff causes sudden deafness after long term use. Scary.

I don't think that anyone's happy that another citizen is hooked on drugs.

but, it's clearly something to note that one of the most self righteous pricks alive has been exposed as a liar and a hypocrite.

fukk rush.

lucky for him, he's rich. he probably won't go to jail like all of the poor people that he hates!

Its amusing to hear all this talk of some guy going to jail for doing drugs. Last time I checked, its not illegal to use illegal drugs, you at least arent going to go to jail for doing drugs.

whats that saying, posession is nine tenths of the law...

is it true that he did his show for a long time not being
able to hear?
i heard somewhere that he had a telepromter to help
him take calls.
if this is true, from a technical standpoint ,
i give Rush big ups!
How much would it cost to gold plate an Sm57?

i know, i know, who cares.
just curios though.

You seriously couldn't pay me to say the things he has said, and to spread the lies that he has spread. His propaganda will be studied for many years to come. How do you convince a great majority of the workers of this country that labor unions are bad for them? You make them hate the hand that is feeding them, and love the hand that is taking away their jobs and their opportunities. Same shit they did to the poor whites in the south during the Civil War. Hey, see that Lincoln, he wants to take away OUR way of life. Now go run into that line of guns.

He is the mouth of one of the greatest shifts of power in history ... away from the working class gains of the early 20th century, and into the consolidated capitalist elite dynasty of the 21st century.

Back to the hobby ...

I dont listen to rush, so I dont have much to *really* say, but I find this whole thing extraordinarily amusing. I hope you arent suggesting that some fat junkie on the radio is breaking the unions. Im proudly in a union, there are maybe about 7 or so unions on the set at any given day including teamsters and Ive never heard the show coming from the cab of a truck nor have I ever heard anyone debate the fat guys mouth. Maybe its just my industry, but I honestly dont think that the ear of the union worker is so incredibly focused on the politics of a guy like that. We all listened to O&A, not rush. Ultimately, I think his voice is heard much more so by the employers of those union workers and his comments just stand to rile people up, so the phones ring so the station can sell advertising. I have a hard time taking any of that shit seriously, its just entertainment and hes just a puppet with a script designed to sell ad space and his show is all about getting people really really really pissed off so they call and get all pissed off so they piss off the other half of the audience so they get pissed off that anyone would disagree with the host. Its a pretty simple talk radio format that is as old as the fat man, he's just the current guy with the successful show running that format. I suppose you can take it seriously, but honestly, if tha guy is real power we are well overdue for the doom and consequences everyone seems to be worried about. Hes been on the radio for a LONG time.

I just want O&A back. Just one cool thing on the radio. Is that so much to ask for?

Without wanting to sound like too pompous an ass, I think that's a good place to begin when locating the essence of integrity.

From a limey's point of view this whole saga looks somehow incredibly American. In fact, in some ways, it's too American. What a story. Keep 'em coming, you septics*.

Subatomic,

Thanks for the personal attack.

Everybody else, Thanks for being so hypocritical.

The reaction of subatomic, and the NON-reaction of some of you who pride themselves on the civility and advancement of this message board over all others is puzzling. I simply calmly stated that there WAS a place for this at tapeop..just not THIS forum... he came back with 1 16 year old's reaction... and the rest of you ignored it. Thanks, you fricking geeks.

It's shit like this that makes good people quit coming here.

Martin

Ps. and i think it's pretty sad and disturbing that a man who holds himself as an example for all to follow has been this dishonest and hypocritical. But I should have posted that in the other forum.

True, true, true. But, I wouldn't write him off so quickly. People listen to that shyte (20 million a day), and he has influence. When the elections are coming down to the wire like they have been, people like Rush become more important. You are in a union, I am also in a union, and I thank my stars that I am. The problem is that most of the workers in this country aren't in a union and many of those workers believe Rush when he says that "liberalism" and "unionism" are destroying the "moral fabric" of this country. So they accept that their $7.00 an hour job at Wal-Mart is a great job, and refuse to organize. Or they get their RN at a community college and let the hospital dump 3 straight 12 hour shifts on them without a peep of complaint. It's insane, but we have been taught that we just need to "work harder" and "toe the line" to get a head in life. Ugh.

Sorry for the long wind. You really are right when you say that he is an overpaid entertainer. Unfortunately in 21st century America entertainment is all many people have for moral or political guidance. Double ugh.

foley: arnold's recent election is a good example of your last point!

i have to agree with loudmusic that this is a good post for the "off-topic" forum. i also have to say, though, that if you spend your life spouting racism, homophobia, and general ignorance, you can almost expect to be criticized in any forum. i don't blame anyone here for getting riled up and speaking their minds.

Gee, do you think Rush is begging for a few ludes right about now? Gives me a warm happy glowing feeling that mean bastard has to go through withdrawal...oops, that was mean, maybe I should say, I hope he learns something from this and becomes somewhat human. I have been hoping he would screw up at some point. Al Franken really is funny, his new book kicks ass!!! Amazing stories.

Maybe its just a reflection in the control room.
Actually it is a specially made gold plated RE-27 EV made for him years ago by EV.
I remember reading it in one of the radio trades back in the late 90's I believe. Couldn't find any stories on it though.
