f/s CAD Maxcon 36x8x2 - $2,750 NYC
I'm selling my Maxcon, which has served me well for 6 years. It includes;
Power supply
7 quad mic modules (28 pre's)
1 octaline module
master II module w/ Jim Williams (Audio Upgrades) mod
4 stereo aux/sub modules - 8x3 busses total
meter bridge
some DL harnesses
beefy custom steel welded stand with huge castors
THE GOOD:
Last year we cleaned and lubed all switches, pots, and faders, replaced all the troublesome switches and pots, and recapped the mic pres. The patch bay has been modified to accomodate an additional 64 channels of ourboard / tie lines via DL I used 64 of the 104 availble mult jacks to do this - there are still 40 (10x4) left.
THE BAD:
The headphone amp doesn't work (Jim Williams fixed it and it blew up again - he says this is a common problem). The oscillator is bypassed (it's was bleeding into the 2-mix). Since we went through it, about three more switches and one pot have gone bad. We still have some spares, which are included with the board.
THE UGLY:
2 white channel fader caps missing
1 channel led not working
2 meter bridge LED's stuck on (see pic)
3 octaline knob caps missing
a couple iffy patch points that need to be resoldered
That's the deal. Pick it up in Brooklyn. Let me know if you have any questions at all.

These consoles kick ass. We use one at our studio and it's amazing sounding.
How do you like the Jim Williams modded master module?

Somebody told me the Maxcon is referred to as "the poor man's Neve," whatever that means. I do know that the mic pre's are great and the audio circuitry is top-notch.
Still available!
lol..... *everything* is supposed to be the "poor man's Neve" - that line has been used for ads/auctions of consoles since time began. not that i am dissing your Maxcon, it looks like a righteous console..me likey the built in patchbay!
Yeah, I guess the Neve thing is a little out of hand. It always cracks me up when I see ebay auctions with titles like "Sound Workshop recording console like Neve API."
I did some mixes on the Maxcon over the weekend, and I'm going to miss it. It's a cool sounding board. If you push the 2-bus you can get some really musical compression out of it, and the low end and mids pull together in a nice way.
Of course, there's enough headroom to do a clean and open mix too.
