Very excited to be going this year - first time to the con. I've signed up for the Build Your Own Mixer workshop, but I'm a little worried my lack of soldering knowledge could be a prob. Any word on the skill level required for this? I'm gonna pick up an iron, and I'd like to practice relevant techniques. What to do? Get some boards at Rat Shack?
Any tips on getting ready for this would be greatly appreciated. Also -any word on what the mixer will be like?

Can't wait to soak up sum lernin....

Don't worry about not knowing how to solder. There are many participants that have little or no experience. You will catch on quickly, and there is always an advanced solder-er nearby who may help you. You could practice if you want to, grab a proto board from radio shackle, get the ones with copper surrounding the holes on the bottom side. you can cut some bits of wire and strip one end, push into the holes and practice making neat solders on the copper side. Try google-ing a tutorial. See you at the workshop.
