ARPs,Rhodes', Hammonds and a Scully reel to reel..1976?

Post by silvertonejones » Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:35 am

guys i did this track in like a few hours..it's an obvious homage to Floyd..did i succeed in trying to capture a certain time period?..it's more an experiment, trying to get my production chops up and my musican chops too since i play everything...
Arp Solina synth-direct to Altec preamp.
Hammond C-3-double mic'd leslie
Jazz Bass through Ampeg V2 guitar head and Dr. Z cab.
Rhodes electric piano-direct to preamp.
Fender relic Strat through Ampeg V2 with 2 Rode Nt-1 mics.....
Drumkit, 2 mics.......

song is called 'i could really use a ride'.

sounds like the 70s to me! Awesome. Real big fat bass sound especially.

Isn't it fun to do everything yourself? :D

Very nice sounding stuff! I concur with the bass statement. Nice, fat, and warm.

Hey dude, what model Scully did you use? The bass is nice and BIG without being overbearing. I think the drum sound could be a bit more "hi-fi" but maybe that's just the bad mp3 compression of myspace.

Great work!

yeah man, great swirl on that Hammond! And I'm a big fan of Home Fires. Kind of a more hi-fi Harvest track. And Neal Casal's in your top 8! You're the coolest! Friend request on the way...

Just caught this...thanks for checking us out. Jim and I are trying to piece together some better and/or cooler studio gear. The stuff you heard at the Root Doctor site we did at Glenn Brown's in Lansing MI. He has the old Muscle Shoals Neve console.

Now I only have a mint Tascam 388, Roland 1680, and a Yamaha PM700. Heard of Ghetto Recorders...heck, I am subghetto. lol
