What could go wrong if I swallowed a microphone?
Well, weird question.
I want to record body sounds for an intro. But, like, what music would sound like inside of the body.
We've done underwater recording, tried all types of filter effects, and everything else I could think of.
I just want to see what this sounds like.
So I have an old Shure wireless lav microphone that I bought specifically for this. I plan on swallowing it and then using the thin cable to pull it back up after I have played music at me at an extremely loud volume. I will post what it sounds like in a bit if all goes semi-well.
Assuming that the cable breaks or doesn't pull the microphone up, what could go wrong by me doing this? I can only guess I'd pass it...I mean...i won't get seriously sick from metal, right? Or is there more to this...

I'm fairly certain they have these in the medical field to diagnose problems. they have pills that record video, so why not audio.

It didn't work. It got about halfway down twice, then I gagged/threw it up.
I then called a friend who has just graduated from school as some sort of doctor to see if there was a better way to accomplish the task at hand. .
He told me it would almost certainly entail a trip to the emergency room or eventually to the doctor. He insisted that I never try anything so moronic again.
So what I did then was stick it right over the cusp of my tounge. Right to my throat. It worked. The microphone held up extremely well and we actually got usable audio complete with weird body noises. All this for a folk record. I too was worried about the phantom power, but nothing came of it.
Thanks to all who replied. I will post some sort of sample, just so you can know what it sounds like.

i don't think he meant THAT kind of a "lav" mic!
