Music recording with a 1.83 Ghz mini-mac

Do you think it would be able to handle it?

The hard drive space would be too small, probably, but with an external hard drive do you suppose it would be able to handle Logic comfortably?

I dunno about Logic 8, but I still use my 800ghz G4 Powerbook for recording tasks with Cubase and Ableton Live -- mind you without high plugin counts.

But I think your mini should do you fine for most things, epsecially if it is an intel box and not an older g4 mini.

The only thing is it only has one firewire port, so you would need to use that for an HD and have a USB audio interface, may not be a problem for oyu, but worth thinking about.

....I run a dual 1.25g G4 with 1.5gb ram and DP4, I can bog it down if I really, really try (20 or 30 tracks at 15 minutes with lots of plugs) but even then I can work around it pretty well. Running at 44.1/24 though.

Basically I want to try out Logic, I don't have a mac but I've been considering a mac-mini over Ebay since they seem cheap enough.

I use a mac mini 1.5ghz with an 002r. Also use and external lacie firewire drive plugged into the interface. Works pretty decently. There is the occasional problem when I have 7-10 tracks going at once. I am actually thinking about getting a macbook ,so this is probably not the best endorsement...
