this is tape op so of course there are lots of different ways you can do this but i recommend that you follow all of these instructions CLOSELY.
record contact mics on all parts of the kit - snare/kick/toms/hat/ride and "air" for later use on overheads - then quantize to the grid for that tight punchy sound - sample replace everything - then use a lot of altiverb to simulate the sound of a large room
di all the guitars/bass and any keys - then quantize - then use amp farm
track scratch voc inside a plexi glass booth with 57 - quantize - send through the antares mic modeler and choose the telefunken U47 sound - then autotune - be sure to use voc align for all bgs
cut all frequencies below 150 on everything except kick drum and bass
track.
send the mix through a "summing box" and then a "tape simulator" to get that warm analog sound. it will also "put some hair on the mix".
then hit the L2 hard - really hard.
and voila - success!
