I was headbutted repeatedly one night by the man. I was at the Czar Bar in Chicago watching some friend's bands play and I saw this big dude yelling out stuff. When he said "We be funkin' over here" I yelled back "Over there ain't shit!" and I was next to him. He grabbed me and headbutted me, and kept ahold of me. He dragged me over to the bar and said "my mom said don't get in trouble, don't get put in jail" Kinda scary.Monkeyfist wrote:There was also some sort of concern about him head butting people. But I didn't get the full story on that. I read though that was his way of saying hello. (What an awesome change out for the old handshake!)
I figured he wasn't dangerous after he said some other funny things. He asked me if I was in a band. I told him "Mythbelievers." He wrote it down in his notebook and took my phone number. A couple days later he left a message on my answering machine, he wrote a song about us (as he did for almost every other band in Chicago). He ended up recording it and putting it on one of his CDs, either "Radiohead" or "Mr. Magoo Goes to Jail." I forget which one.
I was sad to hear he died. He was a really good artist. I have one of his pen drawings hanging up in my living room. I throw one of his CDs in whenever I am feeling down. Much better effect than the Shaggs.
