Hey Guys,
I've built around 6-7 of these over 3 years and I have NEVER had a problem with any of them, other than the hum issues that are inherent and I posted the solution has been posted over on the Prodigy.
Also bear in mind that the originals were designed around the now defunct DBX VCA's the newer THAT ones have changes that need ot be made, and I would honestly say spent a bit more and get the PRE-TRIMMED VCA's, the 2181's.
Here is a chart I made to indicate the changes to help you out with your builds.

Have fun!

I think the issue with the confusion re: 160 pages and all the revisions is because this project is an early Gyraf project created back in the days of the recording.org site. It has the most history, so of course it's going to have a massive thread. Early on, lots of people would ask stupid/redundant questions, so I'm sure that contributed to it. Also, I haven't looked at that thread for a while, but I doubt all of it's due to the complexity of it. Most are just talking about stupid little things, like knobs, meters, etc. or not being careful in checking their work, also some of that thread I think talks about sidechain options, too. Which reminds me...
The other versions I think are mainly with different sidechain options, I think there are two main ones. These sidechains are optional, but very handy to have as it basically is a highpass filter.

Nice analogy! Ya, I'll build the regular one first. I have three sets of boards so I could always build the other one after I get to know the first.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks! Just last night I found a band on YouTube that is covering one of our songs. They are in Germany! That blew my mind.
Hope I can get this SSL done relatively quickly so I can use it on the next CD.
