BTW... We have discussed the Bloodwood Jazzmaster body several times and it will happen as soon as I get another Guitar to replace it while he makes measurements.
It will be Bloodwood with an Ebony (Real) pickguard (heavily coated with something so it don't scratch) Fuck the future of dart frogs! My guitar gonna be pretty!

Rub a piece of plastic over it for a while and tell me how it looks. Several coats of urethane would guard against scuffing well. Ebony is hard but not impervious.

I got one bass with an ebony fretboard. It is kind of chipped and worn on the pickup end of the neck. But then I have been playing the shit out of it for 20 years.

If anyone is interested in DIY wooden knobs, here is how I make them for my homemade guitars:

Cut a piece of scrap wood to approximate size with the grain orientation you want. Round off edges to approximate cylindrical shape with belt sander (hold onto it with pliers or something)! Drill hole in approximate center. Mount on that Dremel bit that is bascially just a wood screw on the end. Round it off on a piece of adhesive sandpaper mounted to something flat; I use the yellow stuff from Grizzly on a thick piece of glass from a custom glass shop. Gently put the knob in a vice with padding and resize the hole as needed. If you finished sanding with fine grit, you are pretty much done at this point. I finish mine along with the guitar itself, but obviously you might want something more natural looking for a preamp.
