Tuning is usually around a hundred bucks, double that for the first time (a rough and fine pass.) Local moving on mine was $375 (came out of a 3rd floor walkup 20 miles away.) Spent another $175 on tweaking the action. That's about 800 bucks right there on moving and a couple tweaks...

Back to wish list... I forgot to mention a Beyer a m130 and m160 for some M/S wanking...

I'd really like to get a new Mac and a Hamptone JFET. Of course if I get those things there will be something else I want. I also have an Eventide Harmonizer that I need to get repaired and a Lowery T1 combo organ I am trying to revive.

This year for me: Pair of Neuman 184 for my acoustic guitar and a pair of True P solo's to go with.
AT M-50 phones.
New computer.

On the Piano tuning thing.....Piano's that have been out of tune for awhile will go back out of tune after you tune them and you will want to do it like 3 or four times in a year after you move them. After that you should be able to get away with once a year or so. Or you just consider out of tune to be charming and go with it.
(My mom keeps saying she's going to give me one her two Steinway baby grands.
She HAS to stop teasing me that way!)

I get to use KM184s every now and again, and acoustic guitar is defiantly where they shine. I'd like to replace or compliment my Oktava's with them one day...that might go on next years list.

i feel you on the snow. we're supposed to have 15 inches by tomorrow afternoon.

i'm sure fate will throw some oddball items into my cheap little hands along the way, but i have a couple items in mind in the kinda-near future:

- pair of stapes omnis (i'd like some more options on overheads and they look like they're useful for lots of other things too).
- a "holy grail" vocal mic. likely tube. not sure which one yet... (annoying thread on said topic still to come

).
- trade in my gaggle of mid-level fenders for "the" strat. (hi-o fralins!)
- some cheap weird old 12" speakers so my rec-partner's boyfriend can use his dovetail jig and router to make me some mini-cabs!
- a decent midi controller for the studio.
- a patch bay solution such that we can integrate outboard gear into our ITB mixes more efficiently.
- 8-track cassette recorder.

looks like we're going to be recording mostly lo-fi light folk and some folk-rock before fall, so trying to get my bases covered for that.

Oboy...snow sucks after that first one of the year when its fun for a half a day.
But here in Portland we deal with all the rain.
I joke that we just keep a big jar of Prozac by the bed.

I wish I could get by with a cheaper pair of SDC's than the 184's but my friend has a pair and I can use them sometimes and everytime I do it's just so right for my guitar.
I've been to a real nice place (Big Red Studio)_where Billy has Klaus Heyne Modified Neumanns and a big ass Trident board and I like the sound I get off the True and plain jane 184s better.

i talked to Wes and Steve at AEA and they seem to think the R92 is a better option for my needs, which is weird because just about everything I read on message boards suggested the R84 is a better all around microphone. But hey, if the people who actually make and design the microphone think that their cheaper model is a better buy for me, heck I'll take their word for it.

I have a bunch of projects I want to finish this year, in order:

1] finish building out the basement studio (hopefully by the end of June)
2] rack up those 2 PM-1000 channels I have
3] finish another two channels of API 312's I started a while ago
4] Royer tube mod to my MXL 603s
5] clean/align my Otari 1/4" machine
6] recap my Hammond
7] recap my Wurli
8] recap/tune my Rhodes
9] figure out how to hook up my new 9-pin leslie to my old 6-pin half-moon

Gear I want to get eventually (besides the general stuff I need to finish the studio, like a new desk, cables, monitor stands, etc):
1] a pair of 22" LCD computer monitors
2] vintage drum kit for the live room
3] at least another 8 channels of A/D
4] a weighted-key MIDI controller
5] SM7
6] a kick mic (haven't decided yet)
7] a decent guitar amp for the live room
8] a new computer case

I'm sure I'll think of more

I'd love to have a Rhodes or a Wurliizer, or some sort of combo organ like a Gibson/Vox/Farfisa, but I simply don't have the room. I'd like to try Digidesign Velvet though.

I have to get my f@%#^&king wisdom teeth out first, and my health insurance doesnt cover it. Its expensive to do stuff I couldnt afford to do wwhen I was younger.
