I've heard the guys who own Gibson are hotheads. I'm now inclined to believe it.

"Gibson should just drop it and make a Les Paul / Guitar Hero model, a grown up version of the little plastic Hero Guitar with the buttons and lever. They'd probable sell more than the real stringed Les Pauls."
Now Thats a Marketing Strategy!!!

Here's the other mind-blowing aspect of this: Gibson claims to have a patent on "a device that lets a user ?simulate participation in a concert by playing a musical instrument and wearing a head-mounted 3-D display that includes stereo speakers.?" Ummm, what version of GH has this? Wouldn't it make sense to try and get them for having a controller that looks like a Les Paul? Of course, they would have to prove that most consumers who bought GH did it thinking that they were getting an acutaul Les Paul.
And why are they suing the retailers and not the distributers and manufacturer? How is this ever going anywhere in court? Sounds like their legal team is as f'ed up as they are.
Imagine Huey Lewis suing radio stations over "Ghostbusters".

Paris Hilton can sue you if you use the phrase "That's Hot". No shit. Also, Jeep sued Hummer over the distinctive appearance of the grill (but they lost)
So Gibson suing over the distinctive appearance of a Les Paul is not so far-fetched. It still pisses me off though. Fuck 'em - I don't buy their guitars anyway.

Sure. But they're suing over the fact that they tried to patent William Gibson's sunglasses. And the wording of their patent claim means that if (for some reason ) Drum Kit Hero was the big title from Activision, they could sure retailers for that, too.Tatertot wrote:Paris Hilton can sue you if you use the phrase "That's Hot". Its also not going to go well for them when Walmart's lawyers point out the Guitar Center (who does sell Guitar Hero) isn't included in their suit.
I guess I should be grateful in the end, though. By fixating on this, I have been able to stop wondering what $1,500/hr to an "escort" gets you.

Its like the commercial where the Coke guys are trying to sue Coke Zero.thieves wrote:i don't get this... surely gibson is already getting a cut of the profits, all of the GH3 guitars have a gibson logo on them, and most of the guitars in the game are gibsons and epiphones.
