I love the photo caption: Bob Mould, with his fleet of amps, chilling in his home studio.

... but I dont have to power them up :D

He looks more and more like "Cabin Boy".

That's a really cool article.

I always start with EQ first. Even if I?ve cut lows while tracking, I will often cut them again

wait, does David Letterman make a cameo in this article?

*reads*

"For the sake of expediency, I now record a lot of my guitars direct through a Line 6 Pod."

I think that's a fine sake. He's Bob Mould, I'd rather he get more material out than to sweat the minutia of tone. Good for him.

Cool pic I missed the first time:

How about this quote:
"I like to introduce some harmonic action by adding a bit of compression."?

I think what he is trying to say, is that if you add compression just right you will hit the fundamental notes and knock them down on the initial hit of the comp. Thus allowing the harmonics to come up in the mix??

Sorta like dippin the fundamentals to allow you to raise the harmonics.

I'll spare us all the bandwidth binge of actually linking to this image, but here it is: a schematic of his stage setup circa 1993 http://guitargeek.com/rigview/81/

After tending that large flock he's probably pretty happy to just plug into a friggin' pod now and again...

I know what you are saying; I only did it because I missed the photo the first time...

But, I plead guilty as implied.
