For anyone following the saga, Angela is in the shop in Charlotte.

Absolutely beautiful and good stories about the trip.

More to come.

Sweet.

Heard through the gravepine that it was in great shape.

"He never drives it. He just rubs it with a diaper" :D

Congrats!

Yep, the Sprinter totally delivered and the load-in might have been the most insane five hours of my life! It is in totally great shape, cosmetically. Tech check out starts today. And Mitch made the trip totally fun. Pictures will be forthcoming. I can't wait to do the real install and hear it.

Tech planning day yesterday. Figured out what in the patchbay needs to move (not much), what needs to end up on additional ELCO connectors (not much), what was included with the extra cables (a bunch of multi-pair Mogami and a bunch of ELCO connectors with soldered pins!), located external talkback mic controls, and started looking into phase reverse modification (putting the mic pre phase reverse switch into the line input path). Took additional measurements and some photos. Modules are still packed, but we'll get to powering it up early next week.

Kick ass! You know I have a ton of ELCO pins and some 90-pin snakes right?

From Overdub Lane I assume? I helped move the thing out of the Drive-In way back when. Had some mixing time on it myself, and several sessions with Mitch driving. Always though it sounded good.

Nope. The Overdub Lane console was smaller than what I wanted and in worse shape. This one was in Laredo, Texas and looks like it was manufactured two months ago, although it was commissioned in 1991. God bless Mitch for making that drive.

Yeah, big thanks to Brad for checking it out and for the hospitality in Austin. Those Shiny Box filters look WAY cool. Can't wait to hear them in action.

They're coming. I actually don't have any of the entire console with the modules in it because the console was too big to take pictures of the whole thing in this guy's house. I have a couple of good shots of the empty bucket in the guy's front yard and a few of the bucket at the shop.

Settle down. You're already the cool kid because your record will be the first full-length mixed on it!

Oh yeah! Plus....I don't think I've ever been the cool kid before. Save me a spot at the lunch table....I guess I can give a hater's pass for that. Then....maybe I can take enough money from the square kids to buy a custom console made of, like....leather....hells yeah! Leather! I'm going to set mine's up in hell! That would be so metal.

Fired her up today. Got through seventeen channels and master section and everything looks good. Found three minor faults (one questionable pot, one questionable fader, one dead VU), but the PSU checks out fine, and all three VU bulbs STILL WORK! Got some more wiring planning done and will order extra cable from Redco tomorrow.
