Is that a dig at me? For calling out Jeff on his douchiness? Did you read what he wrote to that band? WTF?
Nope. Its a dig at Jeff. I was going to put it up first, but I figured that I'd be better off linking to one of my own BS threads (they are legion). But the "how to mic a spaceship" thread obviously lacked the fireworks that El Jeffe seems to generate.
And I'm pretty sure that you're not the only one getting a piece of "ol' boi" on that one.

Ok, cool. My post was the last one on that page when you posted the link... that's why I thought that. Carry on...

Different strokes for different folks.

To me, The White Album is my number 1 dessert island disc. It would take a long time for me to get tired of it. It's got great rockers, like Birthday and Back in the USSR, it's got ballads like Julia and Mother Nature's Son, it's got folky numbers like Rocky Racoon, it's got nonsense like Wild Honey Pie.
Outside of Revolution Number 9, which I find unlistenable, I love the whole thing.

I like "while my guitar gently weeps" and "rocky raccon".

that's the kind of hard-hitting, in-depth analysis we're looking for. Well done, shecky!

I wouldn't go that far, but it's no Rubber Soul or Abbey Road, that's for sure. I don't have any "in-depth analysis" either, but for some reason the songs on that album just don't grab me the way others of theirs do. Too much Paul, maybe?

Garbage?

I'd record Shirley Manson for free, 24/7!

Has anybody seen her?

I think I got a YouTube link around here somewhere...

Do all self-referential lyrics annoy you? You must really hate hip-hop then. And a lot of blues. And country.

All right. Back off there buddy. R No. 9 must not be disparaged.

Can you imagine the guts it took to put that kind of sound into kitchens and bedrooms across the world?

Besides which it sounds awesome.

All right! This is a good point. It's easy a lot of the time to apply 21 century sensibility to stuff that happened 40 (that's right, 40) years ago. These guys were pulling shit out of thin air and the public was right there with them. Or so it seems. It's hard, nigh impossible, to do anything that's genuinely NEW these days and Rev 9 was definitely one of the first times the masses ever heard anything like that.

I wish I had a way-back machine so I could go back and watch the looks on folks faces as they spun that track....
