We were given a recording of a song (it was 3 minutes 12 seconds or something like that) and told that it could be edited down to 60 seconds with a single edit, and we needed to find where that edit should go. If we turned the tape back in with more than one splice in it we got points marked off.

Alt splicing method? That can't be good on the heads.

unless it's a wire recorder, then it is The One True Way.

I'm still getting emails from people who think the Purity endrant is real. Do people not read closely? Is satire or humor dead? Do we all have sticks up our asses?

By the way, we got something up at the site: http://www.tapeop.com/honestrecordings/

You haven't received any $5000 checks yet have you?

EDIT: I think people skim a lot more carelessly than they realize. I think this interwad is making us all less intelligent. Really.

I swear that if someone drops in on me unannounced, I will pretend to be doing something wrong. Here's my $5k! Psyche!
Really the first and last parts say it all.
What if Britney actually tried to record live? and adhered to al those standards and couldn't get one yes man to say it was ass?
Harumph!

I heard Britney is actually quite the home recording enthusiast with an old Otari and a couple of pretty nice outboard items. She is actually a lurker here too. She just plays along with all the industry bullshit because it pays for more vintage mics so she can indulge her true passion, home self-recording direct to tape and all OTB mixing. Actually she doesn't even us a DAW except for the occasional Audacity splice.

Riiiiiiiiigghhht.

When does her new bluegrass album come out? i think it's called "TrueGrass"
unlike my new pimp-rock album, "True Ass".

Mine won't make a nickel.
She could record paper rustling with a radio shack mic and make money. I hope she gets to live her dream without accidentally promoting teen prostitution or some other disfunctional destructive behavior weirdness this time, unless that was her dream, in which case, career over.
Harumph!
