What is the Deltalab Effectron I? What's the Effectron 256?

Post by Sean Sullivan » Sun Oct 19, 2008 9:08 am

Came across both of these. Is the Effectron 256 the same as the 1024, just with shorted delay time? I think I read the Effectron I is similar to Effectron II, but with less control?

How much do you think these are worth? $25? $50? More?

I can't find the 1024 anywhere (well, there's one on eBay but it's expensive) and I might have found a cheap PCM41 but it's in rough shape.

Well, I bought an Effectron I ADM 1020 (I think) for $30.

If it works right, that's a great deal.

The biggest differences in the blue Effectron models are maximum delay time. The 1030 (Effectron III) had the longest delay time available of the blue Effectrons (although the delay time on the Echotrons and Super Time Lines could be longer) and featured memory buttons for storing the knob settings. It also featured a weird dynamic modulation mode. The 1030s are my favorites, but the rarest of the blue Effectons. The 1024s are the most common. They all pretty much rock. I have three of them in a rack on the studio where I do most of my work and I use two on almost every rock session I do. It's not uncommon for me to have all three rocking.

they are great delays, but in my experience not very road worthy. I have killed 4 of them from riding in a rack with a tube bass head that somehow didnt ever die. they do the best vocal delay. with each repeat sounding farther away, not just quieter. Also good for flange/phase sounds and the repeat hold thing is a neat way to do a fakey reverse intro.
I used to roll tape, "sample" some of the vocal or guitar. hit the hold button. then I'd burn that onto an adjacent track. so it goes sh sh sh sh sh sh shazam!

We have an Effectron 1024 at a venue I work at and it's awesome. It the limiter on it rules.

Schematics for Deltalab products seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth, so good luck getting one fixed.

I forgot how cool the super short delay with the long feedback was. There also is positive and negative regeneration. Another excellent thing about the effectron series was the knobs! knobs for everything!

It's not broken, as far as I know. I bought it from a store, so I can always return it.

You can buy the manual and schematics here for $10-$15 for just about all the units:

i thought we were getting two different ones at the store i work at, but the guy ended up keeping them. the two models were ADM 256 and ADM 1024. i was really hoping we would get them so i could buy them.

FWIW we were going to sell them for 70-100 bucks each. i don't know how we arrived at that figure.

I want them.
Why not?

i should scan and post the manual for the ADM-1024/2048.

among other things, it includes the information needed to wire up your own remote footswitch for bypass, repeat hold and memory access.

god I would have sold my left nut for that back when I rocked an effectron in my stage rig.
I ended up perfecting the "stab the repeat hold with 2 fingers" move.
which never worked when I was drunk.

So, according to mod website, the Effectron only goes down to a 256 ms delay? That can't be right.

the Effectron II ADM 256 is indeed 256ms maximum delay time.
