Valley People Dyna-Mic
I picked up one of these (it's racked next to a Dyna-mite) last year, and have been playing around with it lately. It's basically a 2 channel in, 1 channel out mic / line / instrument preamp with EQ. It also has (for some reason I haven't been able to determine) a Key Input. Does anyone know why this might be here? As far as I can tell, there is no dynamics processing going on with this unit at all (aside from the Dyna-mite racked up next to it, which is its own key, called "External Input".)
I haven't been able to find a manual anywhere, if anyone has any knowledge to share I would be very greatful.
Thanks

I haven't used much as a preamp, since it doesn't have XLR ins (so I'm guessing it wasn't designed for Low Impedance mics?), but the EQ sounds great and is very useful for a 3 band fixed eq.
I've been meaning to try it out running direct from an electric guitar (the inputs are switchable between mic / line / instrument), but I haven't really had a chance.

I had one of these 10 years ago and sold it a while ago so my memory is a bit faded...
It sounded good but if I remember correctly my "gain" control was an inset screw. I had to use a small screwdriver to set the gain. It seemed to definitely be geared towards installations where the gain was going to be set once and wasn't supposed to be touched again.
I liked it well enough that I considered getting it modded with a regular pot/knob but never got around to it and then sold it.
Other than that I just remember liking it overall.
Hmmm.... Not much help was it...

Check out my website for cool songs recorded and played by me with Steve Goulding of the Mekons on drums. Drums were recorded by our own Joel H at Studio G.

Re: Valley People Dyna-Mic
I recently bought two of these, but have not connected them to my patchbay yet. The mic inputs are balanced; xlr won’t work but trs will.
Is the mic preamp internally connected to the compressor, or do I need to do that externally?
Any other feedback is appreciated! Thanks!
