WTB: Deep wood snare, marching snare

Post by bradb » Thu Jan 15, 2009 11:40 am

been thinking about adding a deep, wood (I can rip off a shell off a wood drum) DEEP marching type snare to my arsenal.

14 x 10 or 12 or around there.

doesn't have to be pretty, can be incomplete, would prefer local.. NYC.

thanks

I have a stop sign badge Gretsch marching snare that's 15x12. It's white pearl wrap and in pretty good shape. The arm on the micro sensitive throw is missing (pretty common problem, repros can be had). PM me if you're interested. I'd let it go pretty cheap and will ship.

Guys,
Thanks for the replies.

I've been focused more on the 14" ers because I have a ton of 14" heads, and a very special kevlar one. But would like to check the 15" out.

Can you both email me pictures?

banks brad at hot mail

thanks!

I have a proper white '80s Premier marching snare that I can part with. Lots of lugs, great condition, louder than all get-out.

I like the old ludwig and WFL marching snare drums, like this one on ebay right now. I've got one and love it (not selling mine). They come up alot for sale it seems, though. They're weird in that it's a single lug that goes from front to back so there are limitations to tuning, but it's super lightweight (at least mine is) and can get a really full, deep, and, IMHO, awesome sound.

EDIT: I'm not necessarily saying get this one on ebay. I have seen them for cheaper. I got mine for, I think, $40 off a guy from craigslist in NY about 6 years ago.

I have a feeling the snare you're talking about is going to be too small to fill my needs.

I need a BIG snare, with a firm MEATY sound.

what size you talking anyway.... 1 x 3?

;)
