The power supply in that G4 alone is worth more than that! Do you have any idea what a new PSU for one of those things costs??InvalidInk wrote:Digi 001 I bought new for like $800 or so and then they discontinued it a month later.

yeah, i'm a digi 001 and G4 user as well. I think i bought the digi used for $400, and the G4 dual 800 used for $900.
don't even want to know what the computer is worth.. it still works great though!
G4 Digi001 represent! I look at the new stuff, and I can't justify replacing PT 5. The only thing I really feel I am missing are the reverbs, sample corrected latency on plugins, and surround sound.trodden wrote:ahahaha.InvalidInk wrote:Digi 001 I bought new for like $800 or so and then they discontinued it a month later.

I do throw drum tracks down on Reason on my laptop, but Digi001 is fine for tracking and mixing CD quality.

You can go up to 6.4 if you want and get some reverb.

Worst trade I've ever made:
I once bought a "vintage" David Eden bass head ('01?). It was the real deal, when they were still boutique made in the barn out back. Serial number 112 or something. Cost me $700 - worth every penny this skinny high school kid saved. The thing was a weird model, advertised as 500 watts mono (250 stereo) but actually rated above 600 Watts mono... just huge. Sounded awesome.
After about 6 + months one of the monstrous transformers in this thing goes out (of course I don't know that's what it is). I wait over a year (didn't play it) before I take it to a great repair shop in Seattle, and they give me an estimate. I come back after some delays and they tell me it's $650! At this point I'm a broke college kid. They take pity on me and end up only charging me for parts and a flat $50 for labor - extremely gracious! Sounded just as good.
Another year goes by and I realize I'm much more of a gear head than a rock star. I decide to get my first "real" microphones, and the only way I can raise funds is to sell the Eden. I try selling it myself and everyone tells me this thing is crap (I knew it not to be true, but Seattle really isn't the market for this thing). At the time Eden had also just been bought out, so they don't have any advertising, etc.
So I go into Guitar Center with my head low, and after begging and pleading with the guys there I walk out with a Rode NT1A, a pair of NT5's, and two XLR's. My butt still hurts.
Since then I've made a vow never to let that happen. I've also sold the NT1 (I only recorded ONE source that it sounded even remotely decent on), and have recovered emotionally.

It's true you could always get one for $200, but in my opinion they're worth every bit what you paid - especially with that filter.Soundmonkey wrote:Back when I didn't know better(1999) I paid $500 for a Korg DW-8000 synth. It's cool, but not worth $500. It was however my introduction to the wonderful world of analog synthesis, so it wasn't all bad. I still have it.

Bought a Yamaha RX-15 drum machine in 91' and the bastard charged me $225. I was a dumb kid, and he knew it.
Later that year the same guy was trying to buy a used Peavey KB100 amp from some customer but wanted to put a week hold on the amp. The guy was in a hurry to sell, so I grabbed him after he left the store and offered him $150 in cash and he took it. The guys that ripped me off earlier that year was going to pay $225 for it.
