FS: Rare Oktava Tube Limited Run Ball Mic by AEG/Astor

Post by DGoody » Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:56 am

I'm selling a very cool, pretty amazing sounding tube mic, designed and built by Astor-AEG, as a limited run for Oktava. This is serial number 1. It's simply called the MKL Ball. The circuitry is nearly identical to the well regarded MKL-100 by AEG, but housed in a much cooler body. Here's a blurb : RTT MKL-100 valve microphone

It's a fixed cardioid condensor, with an LED inside the body of the mic when powered on. It sounds kind of like a brighter U67, or perhaps more like a tube retrofitted U87. AEG designs these mics loosely based on the LOMO 19A19, a very highly regarded mic. I've used it heavily as a front of kit type of mic, and vocals. Included is the 110 & 220V AEG power supply, known for being excellent, and the ps/mic cable.

I was fortunate to get this at a very good price, so I am asking $850 for it. My honest inclination would be to sell it for $1250, but being a relatively unknown mic, I am being realistic. The mic is in Woodstock, NY, 12401. Buyer will pay shipping, and Paypal fees, if we use PP.

I think I may only have quick access to a mono drum kit sample using the Ball.

I could do more, but I'm mixing right now..... shoot me your email and I'll send you that.
