the ADCs in the digi 002 are AKM AK5383, which spec out at 110dB dynamic range (DR). pretty good.
the DACs in the 002 are AKM AK4393, which are the top of the line AKM DACs. 120dB DR.
never peeked inside a roland VS, but at best, they could only be comparable. probably worse.
VS2480 or Digi002 Converters?
This only tells half the story.jaguarsg wrote:the ADCs in the digi 002 are AKM AK5383, which spec out at 110dB dynamic range (DR). pretty good.

The digi 002 has a switching supply(a poor one at that) and poor filtering. The converters aren't terrible, but they are being asked to work in subpar conditions.

obviously, alot more comes into play: clocking, gain stages, power supply, what mode the converters run in, etc.
