Mastering suggestions?

Post by the riff » Wed Apr 29, 2009 3:19 am

Looking for an alternate mastering guy. My usual guy has been unavailable a lot lately and I'm in need of someone new.. The thing I love about my current mastering guy is first, his mastering, and second, the price..

Any suggestions?

I prefer someone who doesn't charge for recalls, ftp server upload, and that is used to doing rock.

Thanks.

I highly recommend Carl Saff, www.saffmastering.com

He's the shit.

Recently, I've been happiest with Alan Douches at West Side, Julian Silva at On Air, and Paul Gold at Salt.

Roger Seibel at SAE Mastering.

Check out his discography and take a listen. I know it's in Phoenix...but LA isn't too far.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I've been using www.monsterlabaudio.com but it's been hard to get into him lately. Maybe because he does good work for only $45 a song  ....

I also liked the ease of setup. I upload to his server, he masters, he uploads back..

Looking at some of these sites I see "reference disk" charge, "master disk" charge. I view stuff like this as total BS IMO. Or at least an old school way of thinking..

Anyhow, gonna look these over. Thanks for the recommendations!

Paul Gold at Salt seems reasonable and looks to have a good history... Might send a song to him and try him out....

I usually use Alan Douches at West West Side Music. I'm always very happy with his work.

+1 for Paul Gold at Salt Mastering. We couldn't attend the session (we're in Oakland, and poor) but he really made our album sound better. Somehow more three dimensional.

This was our first experience with a mastering engineer and we're pleased. I've also heard that Carl Saff is great. We were originally going to go with him but his schedule was a bit tight.
